Since the 1960s, my family has been deeply connected to the world of gemstones. My father, a dedicated gem merchant, built his business, Jayasilumini Gems, with a passion for discovering nature’s finest creations. He hails from Nivitigala village in Ratnapura District, a region renowned for its gem mines, vibrant gem auctions and trading traditions.
Growing up, I watched him carefully and sustainably mine using traditional methods, then auction and trade these precious stones, always reminding me that each gem carries a story, a journey from deep within the earth to becoming a treasured piece of art.

With our family’s owned gem mines, I was fortunate to witness firsthand the magic of gemstones in their raw form. But I wanted to take this heritage a step further, to transform these brilliant stones into jewelry that people could wear and cherish.
