Since the 1960s, my family has been deeply connected to the world of gemstones. My father, a dedicated gem merchant, built his business, Jayasilumini Gems, with a passion for discovering nature’s finest creations. He hails from Nivitigala village in the Ratnapura District, a region renowned for its gem mines, vibrant gem auctions, and rich trading traditions.

Growing up, I watched him carefully and sustainably mine gemstones using traditional methods before auctioning and trading these precious stones. He always reminded me that every gemstone carries a story—a remarkable journey from deep within the earth to becoming a treasured piece of art.

With our family’s own gem mines, I was fortunate to witness the magic of gemstones in their raw, natural form. Inspired by this heritage, I wanted to take our family’s legacy one step further by transforming these extraordinary stones into jewellery that people could wear, cherish, and pass down through generations.
